Customer Display - Transactions and Images

Modified on Fri, 10 Jan 2020 at 04:55 PM

Overview:

FieldStack software supports hardware with a customer facing display screen.  Each workstation can be configured to use the new customer display (version 6 and later), the original customer display (prior to 6) or no customer display. The setting is in Options -> Configuration Management (search "customer display" and check "Show All") -> POS General -> Use New Customer Display; set this to True to use the new customer display.  Note that the setting for Terminal Settings -> Show Customer Display must also be set to True.  See FieldStack Central Configuration Management under FieldStack Administration for help with changing settings.

POS Transactions

Each transaction will appear in the customer display with a description of the item, quantity and amount, as it is processed.  As items are added, an image (if available) appears along with the transaction details.  As additional items are added, the latest one appears with an image and other items appear as line items; selecting a line item with your mouse will show the image and details.  The subtotal area tallies the number of items, cost, tax and total.

Sales and Buy Backs appear as in the example below:

Displaying Images and Advertisements

Within the new customer display (version 4.39 and later), image(s) / advertisement(s) can be set to cycle on the customer display when there is not a transaction in process.  These images are managed in Locations -> Manage Ads.  Note that Manage Ads will be available when Use New Customer Display is set to True (see Overview, above).

1. Adding New Images and Assigning Parameters

Images must be at least 768px tall or 1024px wide, and no larger than 10MB.  Select the images you wish to use according to these parameters and save them to a computer or network location you can access from the Add New Image button.

In Locations -> Manage Ads, select Add New Image and choose the image(s) you want to display, from where you have saved them.  As images are added, they will appear in the lower section of the screen.  Click on each image to see the properties assigned to it; note that a red line will appear on the left side of the selected image and it will appear in the upper section of the screen along with the properties: Duration in seconds, Start Date, End Date and Store Group. Click on the Edit Properties button to select or adjust any of the properties, and choose a Store Group.  The assigned Store Group will dictate which store(s) will have the image(s) displayed.  Duration can be selected in increments of 1; the value represents seconds.  Click Save to save the properties.  Note that changes will be effective after the next transaction is complete, or after you switch back screens.

2. Managing images

The top section of the screen has a drop-down to choose which images will be displayed, based on their date status: Active, currently cycling images; Upcoming, images scheduled to cycle in the future; Expired, images scheduled to cycle in the past.  Click on the Show drop-down to select which images you want to see and manage.

3. Editing Multiple Images

From the images on the bottom of the screen, you can select multiple images to edit at the same time.  Hold the <CTRL> key while clicking on the images and note the red line that appears on the left side of the selected images.  The last image selected will appear in the top section.  The Edit Properties button will indicate the number of images selected.  Click on the Edit Properties button to select or adjust any of the properties, click Save when done.  Note that changes will be effective after the next transaction is complete, or after you switch back screens.

4. Deleting Images

Select an image to delete, when it appears in the top section of the screen choose the Delete button to delete the image.  A popup will ask if you are sure, choose Yes and the image will be deleted.

5. Quick Start Date

With image(s) selected, you can quickly set them to start cycling "today" by hitting the Start Now button.  Note that changes will be effective after the next transaction is complete, or after you switch back screens.

6. Quick End Date

With image(s) selected, you can quickly set them to stop cycling by hitting the End Now button.  This will set the End Date to "yesterday".  Note that changes will be effective after the next transaction is complete, or after you switch back screens.
