Buy Online Pickup In Store (BOPIS)

FieldStack Web stores now have the ability to offer BOPIS.   BOPIS lets customers buy items online and pick them up in a store.  Customers avoid shipping charges and it allows them to get their order faster than traditional delivery.   BOPIS may be set-up on a location by location basis.   By enabling BOPIS in a location every Web active item in that locations inventory becomes available for BOPIS.   


Locations will be notified of a pending BOPIS order in FieldStack via a flashing light in the upper right-hand corner.  This button is clickable and brings up a list of all pending orders.   Orders are filled like other marketplace orders at the location and produce a special label that can be scanned to complete the pickup  process.



Things to consider and tasks to complete before enabling BOPIS:

- Which locations will be offering BOPIS?

- The latest time you will accept a BOPIS order for pickup that day

- Do you want to allows Guest users to utilize BOPIS?

- Set a pickup expectation and a cutoff time.   The shorter the time frame and the later the cutoff the better, but make sure you can meet the expectation.   FieldStack can display messaging in two places communicating this expectation. 

  1. On the Product Page - This can display a today message and a next day message based on your cutoff time.  
  2. At Check-out - This is a static message

- Decide on a pickup process.    

  1. Will the customer be required to come into the store to pick up the items or can they call you for curbside delivery?  
  2. Do you offer special parking spots just for BOPIS customers?
  3. What forms of proof will you require for pickup?  Can they just tell you their name, do they need to provide a government issued Id, do they need to provide you with the order number, do they need to provide you with the order confirmation email, etc.

- Set a pickup expectation on the customer and what happens if they don't pick it up.  For example - "We'll keep your items at our counter waiting for you to pick them up for up to 5 days.  After 5 days we'll cancel your order and refund you"

- Setup a content page for BOPIS on the Webstore explaining the service and its rules.

- Setup your BOPIS email templates.   Be sure to explain the process in these emails.

  1. Order confirmation email
  2. Order ready to be picked up email
  3. BOPIS order picked up and completed
