To create a new item listing for something that is not in your database, you will clone some information from an existing, similar item
- Look up a similar item from the inventory tab > Find item advanced
- Click Advanced on the pop-up box to open up the choices if needed
- Search for something that is similar to the item you are going to add. You could use Smart Search and enter keywords, Manufacturer, Vendor Name or go to a specific item.
- Click Search
- Find an item in your item list that is the same category, manufacturer, release date (start sell date), or list price
- Right click and choose Add similar item or CTRL + S (for similar/steal) on the keyboard.
- This will bring up a partially empty Edit Item form
- Fill in the item Name, Description, UPC, and item number
- If no UPC actually exists on the item, a FieldStack generated GTIN (14 digit UPC) will be assigned to the item
- If the UPC already exists on another item, an alert will pop up
- Depending on what you copied , make sure your list price, cost price, label name, and start sell date (if applicable) are correct.
- Go to the attributes tab. If needed add any attributes that are unique to this item. This could be color, size, ingredients, online visibility, or attributes specific to your chain that trigger other online functions. Category and Type attributes should fill in when saved.
- Click on Save.
- Your item will open in a new tab.
- Review the line item to ensure you correctly entered the most important fields.
- Your new item is ready to order.
