The FieldStack application introduces the ability to save custom report/grid layouts on applicable screens. This allows the user to tailor displayed data/information to their organizational liking. The ability to manage layouts depends on the user and FieldStack (or your IT department) will need to turn on this feature for you before you can use it.
NOTE: Layouts are saved on the machine and are loaded depending on the logged in user. They will need to be configured on each machine the user wishes to utilize them on. Layouts are also report-specific. Creating one custom layout will not give you the same custom columns throughout other grids in the application unless you make additional layouts.
ACCESS TO CUSTOM LAYOUTS
The ability to use custom layout is defined on the user level.
An administrator can set up a user to have these controls.
- To add a user, go to Options > Configuration Management
- Right click the Company line in the device tree and select Add New User from Defaults
- Within the pop-up, select the name of the user you are giving this access to and click OK
- You will notice in the left pane that a line that originally read "New User" will change to include the name of the employee who was added.
- With the new user still highlighted you will see a small list of user-specific configurations
- Ensure that Is Allow Cached Form Layout is set to True (this is what allows a user to see the Choose Layout tab)
- In the lower part of the screen, click Save User Settings
- When the user logs in the next time, if they click Options > Configuration Management, the Choose Layout tab should also appear. After doing this, they will be able to override the default view on many windows and tabs. Primary controls are adding and removing columns, changing the order & width of columns, and changing the default sort on various screens.
USING CUSTOM LAYOUTS
After customized layouts is enabled for your user, an additional tab called Choose Layout will appear after Options > Configuration is accessed.
- To create a custom layout, click on the "Choose Layout" tab at the top of the screen. It will then open up a small menu above the results grid (below) where you can select and edit your layout. Click on "Override Default" and "[UserDefault] will appear in the "Edit" text box. The [UserDefault] layout will load every time you open the form.
You can also type in a name for other layouts, however, these will not load automatically and will need to be selected each time. Only the [UserDefault] layout will load automatically. - Once you have the layout selected that you want to modify, you can edit most grids within FIeldStack. Primary edit options are:
- Add columns using Column Chooser
- Remove Columns by dragging a column out of the grid
- Rearrange columns left to right
- Resize columns to specific widths as needed
- Set custom sorting (e. g. always sort item list by item price or by quantity on hand, top to bottom or bottom to top.)
Right-click on the grid columns and click "Column Chooser" which will allow you to add several other columns. You can either double-click these additional columns or drag and drop. In the same fashion, you can simply drag a column off the grid and it will disappear. Once you have the columns you want you can drag them around in whichever order you prefer.

3. Once you have your column headers organized the way you'd like, you must click the check-mark next to [UserDefault] (or whatever layout you may be adjusting) and this will save the layout for you.
When you return to any form that has been edited, any columns included should show up and any changes to order or sorting should be in place.
Note: If you update/override default whit other tabs open it is possible to save sorting or filtering that was done on another tab that you may not want saved. It is best to set up your new layout with no other working tabs opened.
