4.7 Handling Failed Postage Instances & Reprinting Shipping Labels

Modified on Tue, 6 Mar, 2018 at 1:51 PM

On occasion there may be a failed postage instance during Marketplace fulfillment at the Warehouse. As a result there is a useful barcode on the bottom part of every postage label that says "Re-Purchase". Under the barcode there will be a series of numbers and letters starting with "$MD-"

You can see an example of a failed postage label below. Notice the failure message highlighted in orange, and the Re-Purchase barcode highlighted in green:

The Re-Purchase barcode can be scanned into Marketplace Mode in the POS window and it will return the Postage window (more data on Marketplace Fulfillment and Marketplace Postage Window) for that same package. This is so that you can adjust the shipment settings or change any shipping methods, addresses, weights, or other potential causes for the postage label failure. In the case of our example adjustment above, we would need to find an address with a postal code that our carrier can find.

Once an adjustment is made, you can print the new shipping label and attach a successful label to the package.

If there is no current Shipping Label available to you so you can use the Re-Purchase function, you can use the Current Orders window to find the one you need to reprint or adjust. First, go to Marketplace Mode and click Current Orders.

This window will open up. Here you will want to choose a date range for the Batches Closed Since field, and then click "Search Picking Batches".

This will return the Closed Batch results from the time of the date you chose until the present day, where we will be able to find our old shipping label.

You will likely recognize the batch you were working with. If you do not, you can click the "View Packages for Picking Batch: # " button and this will show you the packages from that batch, and the products inside each package. This button also displays the batch ID #, so if you know the batch # you are searching for, that will be another verification.

Above we are looking at a manually generated batch from March 5, 2018. We can see that in this batch there were six packages for five customers. Any one of these packages can have its shipping label reprinted from this screen. In the example above, all six labels would reprint because the checkboxes in the far right right column under Print Shipping Label are all checked. Simply un-check the labels you do not need to reprint.

Once you hit "Reprint Shipping Label" and retrieve your label with the Re-Purchase barcode on it, you can use that barcode in Marketplace Mode to bring up the Postage screen and make necessary adjustment as discussed earlier in this article.
