FS Mobile: Pick

Modified on Wed, 24 Apr at 3:27 PM

Pick is a function reserved for WH to store transfers and Store to Store transfers. Picks will not show units to process unless the transfer has been activated from within the FieldStack application.

Pick Within a Warehouse*

*Location with bins, hereafter referred to as “WH w/Bins”

Tapping the Pick function will drop down a selection of three workflow variations:

By Zone - Pick by zone will allow you to activate a pick based on a certain warehouse zone, within which you would also select a store or stores to pick. In general you would pick by zone for a single store, collect all those items, and put them in the outgoing area of the store for which you were picking

By PO – Pick by PO allows you to enter a selected purchase order number (associated with a transfer). This would be used primarily to force out a batch of items that were a priority over standard daily zone picks.

CLUSTERED – Based on the PO you input, Clustered will pick all items in that PO for all stores that have activated transfers. By default these begin with items that would be kept on high shelves and require a Ladder or Lift to get to. The idea being that you can pick the hard to get to items for all stores at once, while easier to reach items in easily accessible bins would be taken care of through standard zone picks.

To pick BY ZONE

1. Tap Pick

2. Tap By Zone

3. Select the zone you have been assigned by tapping the arrow to open up the store list. Tapping the arrow will call out to the activated transfers and tally the total units to pick in that zone and the total to pick for each store and display those numbers next to the zone (total units) and next to each store.

3. Select a store or stores by tapping the squares.

4. The Start button at the bottom right will become tap-enabled and will show the total units to pick. Tap on it to begin.

Items will come up in order within the zone based on the Bin Location number (weighted numeric number) within Warehouse Bin Management. The Warehouse Bin Management screen shows this weighting and can be edited there to change the order that items would come up on picks.

In Pick mode, items appear on screen showing the following:

  • Bin location to pick from (as defined by the Zone you are in and the fact that the bin has pickable contents (not assigned to another pick) and based on FIFO (first in first out) settings.
  • Barcode - Primary UPC of the item
  • Item - Name followed by Description
  • Description - Extended Name
  • Item Number - Item Number Extended (One Stop Order Number)
  • List Price
  • Quantity to pull - Total of activated quantities on transfers for selected stores
  • Quantity Pulled - Defaults to same as quantity to pull
  • Inner Case Qty - In Box Item Quantity
  • Vendor Case Qty - Primary vendor Case Size as inputted on the buying tab
  • Store name
  • On order
  • Picked (editable – can be reduced, increased, or changed to zero)
  • Arrow icons (allow you to go back to view previous items on pick or go forward thus skipping the item on screen)
  • Number of on screen item / Total items to pick
  • Process button (grayed out until barcode is scanned)

5. Locate the first item on the pick.

6. Quantity Picked can be edited now if needed

7. Scan the item's barcode

8. Quantity Picked – can still be edited

9. Process button becomes tap-enabled

10. Tap Process button

Confirmation box will pop up

11. Tap OK - or Cancel to return to the item screen to edit quantities or skip it

Tapping OK on the confirmation box will process the item on the pick. At this point the send transaction processes. The quantity picked becomes confirmed; even if you go back to this item on your pick, you can no longer edit the quantity.

Short Picks

When picking items using Pick by Zone, Pick by PO, or Clustered pick, if a user changes the pick quantity to zero or a number less than the original quantity to pick and taps Process, the remaining unpicked quantity for that item will be removed from the store transfer and no longer show on order for the destination location.

  1. This is controlled by a Location Setting:

A close up of a sign

Description automatically generated

  2. If an item is short picked, it will be removed from the pick on FieldStack Mobile
  3. The send line from the warehouse to store on the transfer PO will be expired “yesterday”
  4. The order line for the store from the warehouse will be expired “yesterday”
  5. Short picked items will appear on the Zone Pick Variance report, if utilized
