FS Mobile: Basics

Modified on Thu, 04 Apr 2024 at 03:43 PM

FieldStack mobile is a secure, web-based portal for processing items while not physically present at a FieldStack POS computer. It allows a user the freedom to process items while on a warehouse picking lift or from the sales floor of a retail location. The mobile tool can be accessed on any device that has internet access and functions especially well on touchscreen devices meant for warehouse and retail processes, which might include built-in or Bluetooth barcode scanners, triggers, and physical or pop-up keyboards. The mobile device may also be accessed from a desktop computer running the FieldStack application.

For security purposes, the web-based mobile portal is accessed by first logging in via the FieldStack application. The IP address associated with the network must be on the allow list at FieldStack. This ensures that it cannot be accessed from home and that a lost or displaced device is not a liability.

The mobile device has most non customer-related processes built-in and includes additional functions and features in some areas that are not available on standard POS modes.

Variations

There are variations that control the primary functions and usable features on the mobile device. These are primarily triggered by location type and employee permissions. Features not available to a user based on their permissions may be removed from menus or may be grayed out/locked.

LOCATION TYPE

A. Locations with Bins - A location with bins (bin locations) has the standard functions of a Warehouse and many functions are tied to Bin locations. Receives and Sends push inventory through Staging to keep an item in inventory as it moves around.

Put Away and Bin Lookup are distinct to warehouse locations.

B. Locations without Bins - A physical location without bins has the basic functions needed by a Store. Receive and Send closely mirror the functions of the store POS.

Relabel is distinct to store locations.

Employee Permissions

Item Edits

A user that has the permissions in place to edit items, can edit the following from within Item Lookup or during receiving:

  • UPC list (add/delete/make primary)
  • Cost
  • Price (list price)
  • Inner Case (In box item quantity)
  • Vendor Case  (as entered within buying tab)

Receive & Send

  • Receive - If a user can access Receive Mode on the POS, they will be able to access it on Mobile
  • Send - If a user can access Send Mode on the POS, they will be able to access it on Mobile
  • A user that has permission to both Send and Receive, they can edit inventory on an item from Item Lookup
