Safe Drops/Pulls

Modified on Fri, 25 Feb, 2022 at 10:28 AM

The Safe buttons are located in the Cash Drawer section of the POS tab. The Count Safe button will only appear on your machine if the Safe Base amount is set in your Configuration Management > Location Settings.

The Drawer Safe Drop Alert Amount is a machine setting in configuration management. This is the amount that, when reached by the drawer, will alert the user to pull a safe drop.

The Safe Base Cash Amount is a location setting in configuration management. This is the base amount of cash in the safe. Setting this will enable the "Count Safe" button shown above.

Once the Drawer Safe Drop Alert Amount is reached, the change window will alert the user to pull a safe drop. This means that the register has exceeded the limit of recommended cash for that particular drawer.

At this time, use the Safe Drop button and enter the quantity (NOT the dollar amount) of cash being put into the safe and select "Make Safe Drop".

Making a safe drop is nearly identical to the process of making a cash transfer. If the amount moved to the safe brings the drawer's total below its base amount you will need to transfer cash back into the drawer when closing it out at the end of the day.

Safe Base amount: If your store is set with a Safe Base amount, then the safe has a specified amount of money in the same way that each register does.  If a base amount is set, you will see a Count Safe button.
Doing a Safe Drop will push that amount of money to the Safe and increase its total.  If there is money in the safe that was pulled from a drawer during a Safe Drop, then Count Safe will need to be done at close. This will tell you how much to pull out and that dollar amount will become part of the deposit total. Outlined below.

Handling Safe Drop if both buttons are visible:

1. "Please pull a safe drop" pops up or you decide you would like to remove some cash from a drawer

2. Click on Safe Drop button

3. Pull the amount of money you wish to put into the safe

4. Enter the quantity of each bill or the total being removed in the "other cash" line

5. Place that money in the safe

6. At close, click on Count Safe

7. Count money in safe

8. Remove the amount requested

9. After safe and all drawers are closed, print the deposit slip

The money removed from the safe will be included in the deposit total.

Handling Safe Drop if Count Safe button is not visible:

If you do not see the Count Safe button, then your location does not have a Safe Base cash amount entered. This means that the safe is not treated as a drawer and merely a place to store money. If you do a Safe Drop with a safe that does not have a base amount set in FieldStack the money placed in the safe will become part of the end of day Deposit Slip.

Taking money out of the safe for a drawer

Should you need to take money from the safe and put it into the drawer for petty cash, or any other reason, this can be done by using the "Count Safe" button. You will only need to Count Safe if the button shows which means that the Safe Base amount is recorded in FieldStack and that your safe is treated like a Register. Put aside the money you intend to put in the drawer. Then, count the remaining amount within the safe and enter this into the "Count Safe" window. The next time the safe is counted it will show that it is under by the amount that was previously removed. If the Safe and Drawer will permanently have the new base amounts, the Drawer amount and Safe Amounts should be altered be administration.
