When the computer's network connection is interrupted, FieldStack will enter Resiliency Mode (offline mode). It will automatically try to reconnect until the network connection is restored.
Most features are unavailable in offline mode, but selling items in the POS is still operational. Items can still be sold by scanning the FieldStack generated price label. Transactions will be stored locally on the computer until the network connection is restored and they can finish processing.
When FieldStack enters resiliency mode, a message shows in the lower-left corner of the screen.
The color at the top of the screen also changes orange-red and says "Resiliency Mode."
Offline functionality
- Items can be sold in the POS if you location uses FieldStack generated price labels. It will show as "item" with the label price (the price can also be manually changed in the POS). Most items can be sold if Offline Item Cache is enabled on the affected machine (this stores the inventory on hand in a cache that can be accessed by the POS during offline events).
- Physical customer cards can be scanned in offline mode, and their points can still be applied.
- Searching for customer accounts is not supported in offline mode. During these events it may be best to take the customer's name and phone number and make note of their purchase value or any items that may be part of a Loyalty program and have a manager update their points or loyalty when connectivity is restored.
- Credit Card processing will not function during an Offline event. If you have a backup wireless device, Square device, or phone-connected Credit Card machine, you may be able to process credit cards if Process Offline is set to true on the affected machine.
Example: selling an item offline
Example: scanning a customer card offline
Once the network connection is restored, another message will show in the lower-left part of the screen that FieldStack is back online. If any transactions were in the middle of processing during the outage, a message will indicate they are processing once FieldStack is back online.
