Processing a Credit Card sale with a Standalone Terminal

Modified on Wed, 6 Dec, 2023 at 2:09 PM

There are some instances in which a credit card cannot be run through the semi-integrated credit card terminal assigned to a register.

There are also cases in which a clerk may run a transaction through the standalone terminal due to an internet outage, but is unable to finish the transaction because FieldStack has come back online.
This can also be used with back-up Wireless credit card readers or Square devices at offsite events.

In order to process payments offline a Machine setting must be changed to True.

During credit card transactions a new button called Process Offline appears on the credit card payment dialog:

Pressing this button brings up a similar dialog when FieldStack is currently offline, explaining what is required of the clerk:

After getting an approval from the standalone terminal, press OK and the transaction will complete as normal. The POS will assume that funds were taken in a disconnected device. There will be no record of the finances in batches but the transaction itself will otherwise be recorded normally.
